Letter from Ulysses X. White, President, Society for the Preservation of Black Heritage in Greater Manassas, to Marion L. Payne, Chairperson, Manassas Historical Committee, dated September 22, 1989. White informs Payne that the Historical Committee's subcommittee on the establishment of a memorial to Jennie Dean suggests a multi-part contest. White includes with the letter a detailed plan for the contest which involves four different competitions (park design, essay writing, artwork, and musical performance) to encourage community participation and interest. |
