Description |
Letter from Jeremiah Evans (of the 61st Pennsylvania) to Lewis Cass White. Evans writes of his experience in the Battle of Fort Stevens, but more specifically about an incident in which he was sent behind the fort to get water and came across Mrs. Lincoln. A minie ball happened to land not far from where they were conversing and when Evans informed her that it was from the Confederates, Mrs. Lincoln became concerned for the Presidents safety as he was standing on the parapets. |
