Description |
NAACP National Board Member badge for Samuel W. Tucker, undated. The plastic suit pocket badge is mounted with a gold-colored metal and enamel circular medallion of the seal of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. The seal includes a scale of justice and an open book with the text, "NAACP / FOUNDED / 1909" on it and the full organization name around the edge of the medallion. The book is infilled with white enamel and the center of the circle and all of the text is infilled in blue enamel. Gold-colored metal bars are mounted above and below the medallion that read, "NATIONAL BOARD MEMBER / S. W. TUCKER, Esq." and "N A A C P / BALTIMORE, MARYLAND." This text is also infilled with blue enamel. On the back of the plastic base is a gold-colored maker's sticker with the text, "422 ELMWOOD SUITE #10 / CLASSLINE / INC. / LANSING, MI 48917." Tucker represented Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia on the NAACP's National Board of Directors. |
