Description |
Rectangular foamcore display board mounted with a leaflet that unfolds into a poster entitled, "Virginia Women in History". Three sections of the poster consist of printed red text on a white background. It lists eight Virginia women and details their contribution to history. The women are Hannah Lee Corbin, Mary Cooke Branch Munford, Janie Porter Barrett, Lillian Ward McDaniel, Jessie Menifield Rattley, Patsy Cline, Dr. Christine Mann Darden, and Rebecca Adamson. Each entry lists the life dates, place of birth and occupation of each woman. The majority of the women are listed as activists. The bottom right section of the poster has a bright orange background, a brief description of the project, and photographic images of some of the women. The poster was produced by The Virginia Foundation for Women and Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. The poster is affixed to the board with red tape and the board is edged in red tape. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic which is taped at the back of the board. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
