Irregularly shaped cardboard display board mounted with nine pages from the book, "Salute to Black Women Inventors". The book consists of learning activities for grades 4-7. The top document is the front cover of the book. Below this is the content page, the forward page, and six pages that document three inventions. There are two pages for each invention. The first consists of a description of the invention, a patent drawing and a quiz related to the invention. The second page is a line drawing of the invention in use. The inventions are a bed rack by Henrietta Bradberry, improvements in the dough kneader and roller by Judy W. Reed, and the cabinet bed by Sara E. Goode. The documents were produced by the Black Science Activity Books. The documents are affixed to the board with red and black tape and the board is edged in red tape. The front and back of the board are covered in wood design contact paper and the front is also covered in clear plastic. There is a section of foamcore attached to the back of the board. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
