Description |
Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with a poster produced by Pitman Publishing Company, 1968. The poster consists of five black and white photographic images in two rows on a red background with the title, "World War II" along the top edge in white text. Each image has a brief explanatory caption below it. The top row of images consists of an African American man holding a sign for job equality, and Dorie Miller in United States Navy uniform. The bottom row consists of three images of United States Army personnel, in a jeep with French soldiers, in a vehicle in Bougainville Island, and with bombs labeled as "Easter Eggs for Hitler". The poster is affixed to a black board which is edged in black tape. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic which is taped at the back. The board is marked on the reverse "17". This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
