Description |
Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with a poster entitled, "The Great Kings & Queens of Africa". The poster is part of a series created by Anheuser-Busch. The poster consists of two color drawings by African American artists, one of Tenkamenin, Last Great King of Ancient Ghana, and Nandi, Queen Mother of the Zulu Nation. The drawings consist of the king or queen and a contextual drawing in the background. On the left of the poster is the title and a brief biography of the king and queen. On the right of the poster are the calendar months for 1990 which indicate Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday and Black History Month. The poster has a green and cream patterned background and the text and calendar are in rectangles with peach colored backgrounds. Surrounding these rectangles and the two drawings are decorative motifs. The title is in yellow and red text. At the bottom of the poster is a drawing of a cart and horses. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic and the back is covered in wood design contact paper. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
