Description |
Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with a poster entitled "African Slaves are Brought to the Americas" with a brief historic caption. At the top of the poster is an illustration of African Americans working in a field with a white man talking to an African American man in the foreground and farm buildings in the background. Below this is a timeline from 1492 to 1808 listing six events during this time period. The poster is part of a set of teaching aids entitled, "African-American History Timeline" produced by McDonald Publishing Co. The full set is shown in boards B2019.1.273 - B2019.1.276. The front of the board is covered with clear plastic which is taped at the back. The back of the board is marked with a handwritten, "1". This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
