Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with a title and three posters. The title "AFRICAN - / AMERICAN / HERITAGE" is in red vinyl lettering with a red tape border on white card. The posters entitled, "Educators", "Businessmen", and "Biddy Mason" consist of a color drawing with a caption underneath. The drawing for "Educators" consists of an African American holding an open book and talking to a group of other men under a tree with a large white house in the background. The drawing for "Businessmen" is the interior of a saloon with men standing at a bar and a Christmas tree in the background. The drawing for "Biddy Mason" consists of an African American woman comforting an older woman while a partially obscured man holds her other arm. The posters are annotated with the numbers 1-3. The front of the board is covered in wood design contact paper and clear plastic which is taped at the back. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
