Description |
Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with three posters from the Documentary Photo Aids (DPA) series entitled, "DPA Immigration Series", and one DPA poster from an unknown series. The posters are numbered 29, 30 and 32. The posters consists of black and white photographic images with a caption below. The first poster is a photograph of a baseball game on Ellis Island, the second is a photograph of two members of the Immigration Service's Border Patrol searching undergrowth on the coastline, the third is a photograph of a group of European refugees waiting to board Navy transport Gen. Sam B. Sturgis for deportation to Germany, and the fourth is a 1913 photograph of the Ford Motorcar Plant. The right side is edged in white tape. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic which is taped at the back. Handwritten in red ink on the back of the board is "5 of 7 / Immigration" and in black ink, "F. / Immigration / (1882-1950)". There is an additional section of cardboard affixed to the back of the board. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
