The top board is mounted with a poster produced by the Association for the Study of African American Life and History, Inc., entitled "The Niagara Movement Black Protest Reborn" dated 2005. The poster includes black and white photographic images of W. E. B. Du Bois and William Monroe Trotter and a color reproduction of an engraving of the 1906 Atlanta Race Riot. The poster also includes a drawing of the Niagara Movement's seal in red. The poster includes a calendar with the months and days of the year shown on the left and right side. The text gives a history of the Niagara Movement and its legacy and reads: "At the turn of the 20th century, Booker T. Washington stood as the preeminent voice in black America..." The lower board is mounted with a black and white photographic image of attendees of the Niagara Movement's second meeting at Harpers Ferry in 1906. The caption below the image lists the names of the men in the image. The posters are taped to the boards with black tape. The main board is edged in black tape and the front of the board is covered in clear plastic which is taped at the back. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
