Description |
Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with an article entitled, "Amistad sails into debate on trade-offs" by Denise Barnes from the Metropolitan Times, Friday January 23, 1998. The article discusses the film "Amistad" by director Steven Spielberg and the issues with white Hollywood telling black stories. The article contains three color photographic images, two from the film and one from the film set. To the left of the article is a color drawing of Sengbe Pieh (also known as Joseph Cinque). The documents are affixed to the display board with red tape, which also edges the board. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic and the back is covered in wood design contact paper. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
