Description |
Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with three posters, entitled, "Be The Best of Whatever You Are", "21 Memos From Your Child", and "Don't Quit". "Be The Best…" by D. Malloch and "Don't Quit" consist of printed poems encouraging positive behavior and attitudes, and self-empowerment. "21 Memos…" consists of a printed list of twenty-one statements written from a child's perspective to a parent. They encourage firm but nurturing behaviors in parent and child interactions. Each statement begins with the word "don't", for example, "Don't spoil me. I know quite well that I ought not to / have all that I ask for. I'm only testing you…" The two outer posters are affixed to sections of yellow card and the center poster is affixed to a section of salmon colored card. The posters are affixed to the board with pink tape. The front and back of the board are covered in wood design contact paper and the front is also covered in clear plastic. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
