Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with a poster entitled, "Celebrate Women!" with the sub-title, "A sampler of birthdays of women who achieved in America". In the center of the poster is a list of every date in the year vertically by month. There are entries for at least one woman for each date, giving their name, life dates, and a brief description of their achievements. For some dates there are two or three entries. This text is surrounded by color drawings of a plane over mountains, quilt patterns, musical instruments, sports equipment, the Olympic rings, a race car, an astronaut, surgeons, scientific equipment, a judge's gavel, a protest march, a church, a Girls Scout badge, a horse rider, a ballerina, camera equipment, books, an academic cap, a quill pen, a paintbrush, an Oscar, the comedy and tragedy masks, a film reel, a lighthouse, the Statue of Liberty and a covered wagon. The poster was produced by the National Women's History Project. The front of the board is covered in wood design contact paper and clear plastic which is taped at the back of the board. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
