Front page of "The Metro Herald," newspaper with article entitled, "Alexandria's Black Historic Sites!," Vol. V No. 7, dated February 18, 1994. The article includes images of a photograph of a 4th grade class from Hallowell School, Alexandria and a photograph of the Odd Fellows performing a drill in Uptown, Alexandria. The article provides information about Alexandria's free Black population in the late 18th and 19th century, and the city's Black neighborhoods. The page is mounted and sealed into a wooden plaque painted black and gold. The plaque has a handwritten inscription in black ink on the front to Vola Lawson and the City of Alexandria from Paris D.
