Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with a poster entitled, "Famous African Americans". The poster consists of color drawings of the head and shoulders of fifteen famous African Americans with their name and life dates below. The drawings are of: Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Gwendolyn Brooks, Martin Luther King, Jr., Maya Angelou, Leontyne Price, Marian Anderson, Thurgood Marshall, Mary McLeod Bethune, Ralph Johnson Bunche, George Washington Carver, Ida B. Wells, Benjamin Banneker, Frederick Douglass, Booker T. Washington, and Harriet Tubman. The poster was produced by American Teaching Aids. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic that is taped at the back. The back is covered in wood design contact paper. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
