Description |
The painting depicts a window of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Middleburg, VA. The Shiloh Baptist Church was added to the list of National Register of Historic Places in 2017. The Shiloh congregation was founded in 1866 by Reverend Leland Warring with eight initial members. The original wooden church was built in 1870, and it was replaced with the current structure in 1913. The Shiloh Baptist Church is still active and regularly meets in their historic church. Prior to renovations in the 1950s, illumination for services in the upstairs sanctuary largely came from the Gothic Revival-style stained glass windows. This painting is part of Sherry Z. Sanabria's "Sites of Conscience" series. |
