Description |
Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with a poster advertising a stamp issued by the U. S. Postal Service in 1984. The poster consists of a blue and black abstract background with seven color images of stamps in the Black Heritage Series, the largest of which is the stamp for Carter G. Woodson. The remaining stamps are for Whitney Moore Young, Martin Luther King Jr., Jackie Robinson, Harriet Tubman, Benjamin Banneker and Scott Joplin. The poster includes the white text, "Collect the latest in the / Black Heritage Series / of commemorative stamps... / Carter G. Woodson, / "Father of Black History". The stamp was available after February 2, 1984. The poster is affixed to the board with tape. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic and the back is covered in wood design contact paper. The board is marked in red ink on the back, "6." This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
