Newspaper clipping, National Tribune, March 23, 1916 C.H. Enos of 122nd NY, Second Division, Sixth Corps writes to the editor to correct a previous report that states a man standing next to Lincoln was shot during the Battle of Fort Stevens. Enos states that it was a surgeon standing "several rods" from Lincoln and Gen Wright. Being attached to the hospital corps at the time, Enos was instructed by Mrs. Lincoln to see who and how badly had been hurt and report back to her. |
