Description |
Rectangular paper poster entitled, "John Henry, Steel Drivin' Man, The Black Presence in Folklore" and consists of a color drawing of an African American man, by Charles Lilly with a brief explanation below of the legend of John Henry. The drawing depicts the man standing in a railroad track swinging a sledge hammer with a train on another set of tracks, and a setting sun and cornfield in the background. At the bottom of the poster is the text, "NUMBER 3 IN A SERIES FROM PEPSI-COLA" below the Pepsi-Cola logo. Handwritten on the back of the poster is the text, "BRENT / 91". This poster was used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
