Postcard to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Alexandria Library Sit-In of 1939, commissioned by Alexandria Library, 2019. The postcard features six black and white images on a street map background. The images are of the sit-in protestor participants leaving the Alexandria Library in 1939, the Alexandria Library c. 1940, (Barrett Branch), Samuel Tucker seated at a desk, the interior of the Barrett Library adult reading room in 1937, the commemoration logo, and the exterior of the segregated Robert Robinson Library, c1940. The text, "The Alexandria Library Sit-In / August 21, 1939" is printed in white on a red background at the top of the postcard. The reverse side of the postcard has a place to affix a stamp and write the address on the right side and the commemorative logo, information about the protest and identification of the images on the left side. |
