Rectangular foamcore display board mounted with six posters of African American women. The posters consist of a photographic image with the woman's name and a brief biography. These posters are for Nikki Giovanni, Shirley Chisholm, Naomi Sims, Diana Ross, Lucy Harth Smith, and Patricia Robert Harris. The photographic images are in color, with the exception of Smith's which is black and white. The posters for Giovanni, Chisholm, Sims, and Ross are part of a series entitled, "20th Century Black Personalities" produced by The Instructor Publications, Inc. The poster for Smith is part of a series entitled, "A Gallery of Great Black Kentuckians" and the poster for Harris was produced by The Instructor Publications, Inc. The posters are affixed to the board with white tape and the board is edged in yellow tape. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic which is taped at the back of the board. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
