Description |
Irregularly shaped cardboard display board mounted with five posters with four additional posters loose within the plastic covering of the board. The posters consist of a black and white drawing of events in the history of America with a title in black ink above. The posters are entitled, "54. Railroads Span the Continent, 1869", "55. Women Campaign for the Right to Vote, 1869-1920", "56. Free Public Schools Become Common, 1870-1900", "57. Big Business Begins Thriving, 1870s", "58. Steam Engines Help Modernize Farming Methods, 1870s", "59. Women Help Lead Temperance Crusade, 1874-1933", "60. Custer Makes His Last Stand Against Indians, 1876", "61. Alexander Graham Bell Invents the Telephone, 1876", and "62. Thomas Edison Produces Sound and Light, 1877-1889". The front of the board is covered in wood design contact paper and clear plastic which is taped at the back. Handwritten in black ink on the back of the board, "8." This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
