Description |
Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with a newspaper article entitled, "Book Debunks Myth of Charles Drew Death", dated February 1996. The article includes a black and white photographic image of Drew and the text reports on Spencie Love's book, "One Blood: The Death and Resurrection of Charles R. Drew". The book debunks the myth that Drew died because he was not given a needed blood transfusion after a motor accident but also details that this was the fate of Maltheus Reeves Avery in the same year that Drew died. The newspaper article includes the text, "America's most progressive black newspaper" but it does not include the newspaper title. The document is affixed to the board with red, green and black tape. The front of the board is covered in wood design contact paper. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
