Description |
Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with a poster advertising a stamp issued by the U. S. Postal Service in 1982. The poster consists of three overlaying color images with a stadium in the background, a profile of Jackie Robinson's head in the middle ground and a full length drawing of Robinson in his Dodgers uniform with his hand raised making a catch. The title "Champion" is in blue text at the top of the poster. The poster also includes a color image of the Robinson stamp and smaller images of four other stamps in the Black Heritage Series. The stamp was available after August 2, 1982. The poster is affixed to the board with wood design contact paper. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic and the back is covered in wood design contact paper. The board is marked in red ink on the back, "4." This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
