Description |
Rectangular foamcore display board mounted with two documents. The document on the left is a copy from an article entitled, "Do You Know These Notable Black Women?" from "Essence" magazine, dated February 1993. The article consists of eight quiz questions inspired by the book "Epic Lives" by Dr. Jessie Carney Smith. The questions relate to the work of African American women. The document on the right is a copy of a document entitled, "Did You Tell The Children About These African Americans?" by John Staley. The document consists of twenty-one entries of the question "Did you tell the children?" with all but the last entry having an answer highlighting an African American invention. The last entry reads, "God invented us in His own image and He loves them, me and you!" The documents are affixed to the board with green tape. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
