Description |
Rectangular corrugated plastic display board mounted with a leaflet that unfolds into a poster entitled, "Virginia Women in History". The poster has a bright orange background, and photographic images of seven Virginian women, Mary Cooke Branch Munford, Janie Porter Barrett, Lillian Ward McDaniel, Jessie Menifield Rattley, Patsy Cline, Dr. Christine Mann Darden, and Rebecca Adamson, and one image of a building to represent Hannah Lee Corbin. Each image is surrounded by a red, green and then blue square. In these squares is text listing their name, role, place of birth, and a brief description of their work. In the bottom right corner of the poster is an outline of the state of Virginia with numbers to illustrate where the women were born. The poster was produced by The Virginia Foundation for Women and Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. The poster is affixed to the board with red tape. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic which is taped at the back. The back of the board is printed with the red text, "FIVE GUYS / Now Hiring". This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
