Description |
Bifold rectangular cardboard display board mounted with thirty posters and the title "Spanish-American Heritage". The title is handwritten in black ink on a section of white card which was affixed to the top of one of the panels but is now detached. On the first panel there are six posters and on each of the remaining three panels there are eight posters. The posters consist of a black ink drawing of a man or woman on a light brown background on the right side. On the left of the poster is the name, life dates and a brief biography in black text on a white background with one or two contextual line drawings in light brown ink below. The posters are of Gertudis Gomez de Avellaneda, Jose Feliciano, Jose Celso Barbosa, Jose Maria Heredia, Pablo Casals, Simon Bolivar, Jaime Benitez, Teodoro Moscoso, Ernesto Lecuona, Fernando Ortiz Fernandez, Jose Marti, Julian Del Casal, Luis Munoz Rivera, Enrique Laguerre, Luis Munoz Marin, Herman Badillo, Geno Maria de Hostos, Rene Marques, Lola Rodriguez de Tio, Jose Ferrer, Rafael Hernandez, Piri Thomas, Felisa Rincon de Gautier, Luis Ferre, Jose de San Martin, Roberto Clemente, Carlos Finlay, Ramon Emeterio Betances, Jose Campeche, and Desi Arnaz. The posters are affixed to the board with green and black tape. The two panels of the board are hinged with black tape. All four sides of the board are covered in wood design contact paper and the posters are covered in clear plastic. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
