Description |
Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with six posters. The posters consist of a color photographic image of children, with the title in black text on a grey border. The posters are numbered and list the continent depicted. The first poster is entitled, "Masai Boys with Cattle in Kenya" with the text "3. AFRICA" and an image that shows a group of young men holding spears with cattle in the background. The second poster is entitled, "Pondo Children in the Transkei" with the text "4. AFRICA" and an image that shows a group of young boys dressed in orange cloth, white beads and face paint. The third poster is entitled, "Indian Children in Bolivia" with the text "7. AMERICA" and an image that shows three young children with hills in the background. The fourth poster is entitled, "Open-Air Lesson in Nepal" with the text "8. ASIA" and an image that shows a group of boys seated with cloth bags and holding open books. The fifth poster is entitled, "Class in a School in India" with the text "11. ASIA" and an image that shows a group of children seated at tables playing with toys. The sixth poster is entitled, "Japanese Boys at a Festival" with the text "12. ASIA" and an image that shows a group of boys dressed in blue tracksuits and white headbands. The posters are from a series entitled, "International Picture Charts" produced by Macmillian Publishers Ltd. The left side of the board is edged in red tape. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic which is taped at the back. The plastic does not extend to the left side of the board. There are additional sections of cardboard taped to the back of the board to reinforce it. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
