Description |
Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with five posters from the Documentary Photo Aids (DPA) series entitled, "DPA Series: Building the First Transcontinental Railroad". The posters are numbered 21 to 24. The posters consist of black and white photographic images with a caption below. The posters show the completion of the railroad, including the "golden spike" closing ceremony and a "Grand Opening" poster. The right side of the board is edged with white tape. The front of the board is covered in wood design contact paper and clear plastic which is taped at the back. Handwritten on the back of the board in black is the text, "D. Westward Ex / (1840-1879)", and in red, "The Transcontinental / Railroad #4 of / 4". This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
