Description |
Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with white documents with black vinyl lettering entitled, "D. C. Public Schools Student Self-Discipline Pledge." Below the title is a pledge that lists negative behavior that the schoolchildren pledge to refrain from as it is detrimental to attendance, behavior, and classwork. At the bottom of the board two additional sections of cardboard are affixed to the board. The top section is mounted with a poster with the text, "SUCCESS / is / that place in the road where / preparation and opportunity meet" with a drawing of a crossroads below. The lower section of cardboard is covered in wood design contact paper and mounted with a poster with the green text, "GIVE US YOUR BEST / SHOT!" on a yellow background. The board is edged with red and green tape. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic and the back is covered in wood design contact paper. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
