Description |
Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with a second cardboard rectangle on which is affixed a copy of an article entitled, "Selma Burke: Turning On a Dime" from "Emerge", dated February 1993. At the top of the article is the text, "Emergency Exit by Lester Sloan". The article includes a color photographic image of Selma Burke and her bronze sculpture of Franklin D. Roosevelt. The article gives a brief biography of Burke and her future plans creating an artists' retreat. The bottom of the article is mounted with a dime. On the back of the board is affixed a document entitled, "Milestones" with four obituaries, including one of Selma Burke, which is highlighted with red pen. The base of the board is covered on the front and back with wood design contact paper. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
