Description |
Plastic library patron's membership card for Alexandria Library, with a commemorative design for the 80th anniversary of the Alexandria Library Sit-In of 1939, issued in 2019. The card features images related to the sit-in. The images are of Samuel Tucker, the protest participants, part of a newspaper headline about their arrest, the exterior of the segregated Robert Robinson Library, and the commemoration logo, which consists of the text, "Alexandria Library Sit-In of 1939" and "A Peaceful Protest Ahead of its Time" in black on either side of an "80" with an image of a man seated reading a book in the "0" on a white background. The logo is on top of the images in the middle of the card and is flanked by the dates "1939" and "2019" in white with a black border. On the reverse side in black on a white background is printed a telephone number, barcode, and regulations regarding the card's use. There is also a strip for a card holder's signature. |
