Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with a poster entitled, "Outstanding Black Americans of the 20th Century: Literature, Entertainment, and Sports". The poster has color drawings of twelve African Americans, some with contextual details of their achievements. On the left side of the poster are short biographies. The drawings and biographies are of the following: Marian Anderson, Langston Hughes, Jesse Owens, Jackie Robinson, Alex Haley, Maya Angelou, Quincy Jones, Bill Cosby, Wilma Rudolph, Arthur Ashe, Alice Walker, and Jackie Joyner-Kersee. The poster was produced by Creative Teaching Press. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic which is taped on the board. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
