White envelope printed with a black and white photographic image of the arrest of the 1939 Alexandria Library sit-in participants and a brief history of the event and stamped with a postage cancellation stamp that reads, "1939 / CIVIL RIGHTS SIT-IN / 70th Anniversary Celebration / 1939-2009 / THE 1939 ALEXANDRIA LIBRARY / SIT-IN STATION // August / 21st / 2009 // Alexandria Main Post Office, Alexandria, VA 22314-9998." The envelope also has a 44c stamp with a color image of the flag of the United States of America. The envelope is also printed with the sender address, Kate Waller Barrett Branch Library which was the original site of the sit-in. The envelope does not have a recipient address. |
