Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with three posters. The first poster entitled, "Black Americans Lives For Freedom" consists of a black and white photographic image of Milton L. Olive, III, and of the monument to Crispus Attucks with brief bullet-pointed biographies of both men. The second poster entitled, "Black American Nurses" consists of a black and white drawing of a nurse carrying a tray with a yellow background. The text of the poster lists two general facts and brief bullet-pointed biographies of Estelle Massey Osborne, and Lieutenant Colonel Margaret E. Bailey. The third poster entitled, "Black Americans in War" consists of black, white and red drawings of the Croix De Guerre medal, and an airplane firing missiles with a landscape scene of a line of trucks beneath. The text of the poster lists two facts under each of the sub-titles, "World War I", and "Korea". The posters were produced by Hayes School Publications, Inc. The posters are affixed to the board with red, black and green tape. The front of the board is covered in wood design contact paper and clear plastic which is taped at the back. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
