Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with two posters entitled, "Outstanding Latinas & Latinos in America: Business, Public Service, and Science", and "Outstanding Latinas & Latinos in America: Literature, Sports and the Arts". The posters consist of color drawings of eleven Latinxs, some with contextual details of their achievements. On the left side of the posters are short biographies. The drawings and biographies on the poster on the left side of the board are of the following: Luis Alvarez, Henry B. Gonzales, Edward Roybal, Cesar Chavez, Jaime Escalante, Everett Alvarez, Jr., Vilma Martinez, Antonia Coelho Novello, Henry Cisneros, Gloria Molina, and Ellen Ochoa. The drawings and biographies on the poster on the right side of the board are of the following: Desi Arnaz, Ruben Salazar, Marisol, Roberto Clemente, Martin Sheen, Joan Baez, Luis Nogales, Edward James Olmos, Oscar Hijuelos, Nancy Lopez, and Gloria Estefan. The poster was produced by Creative Teaching Press. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic which is taped on the board. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
