Description |
Photo album containing 277 photographs which date from the Second World War. The front and back covers of the album are greenish-brown and the front cover is embossed with the text "PHOTOGRAPHS" and a decorative design. The photographs are mounted with black photo corners onto black paper sheets. The sheets are secured in the album with brown string through metal fasteners. Some of the photos are loose and many pages have photo corners, but no photos. The album was found by the donors in a crawl space in their house so no further provenance is known. Two or three photos appear to include members of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Alexandria, VA. In one of the photographs an individual is wearing a t-shirt with the text, "369 C.A.A.A. Hq. Btry. 1st Bn." for 369 Coast Anti-Aircraft Artillery, Headquarters Battery, 1st Battalion. In spring 1942 the 369 Coast Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion were stationed in Hawaii. In one of the photographs a man is wearing a Staff Sargent uniform. |
