Rectangular display board, the obverse of which is covered in paper with a red damask pattern and gold stars. This is mounted with three posters advertising the "You're a Shining Star No Matter Who You Are" program at the Charles Houston Recreation Center, 901 Wythe Street, Alexandria VA, May 14th, 2004. The top left poster is green, the top right poster is yellow and the poster at the bottom is different in format and has a smiling star sticker affixed. Below the poster is a piece of white paper with another smiling star sticker affixed. On the reverse is a poster for "Veterans Day November 11" with images of a map of the world, military insignia, a plane, a tank, a boat, a medal of honor, the Iwo Jima memorial and the silhouette of a military figure saluting. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
