Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with a poster entitled, "A Salute to Historic Black Pioneers". The poster has a blue background and has color drawings of eighteen African Americans with five contextual drawings of their achievements. The drawings are of the following: Crispus Attucks, George Washington Bush, Barney Ford, William Alexander Leidesdorff, James Weldon Johnson, Bill Pickett, Mary Fields, Matthew Alexander Henson, George Washington, Biddy Mason, Jean Baptist Pointe DuSable, Dr. Carter G. Woodson, Dr. James W. C. Pennington, William Whipper, Abraham, James Pierson Beckwourth, Nancy Green, and Clara Brown. The poster was produced by Empak Enterprises. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic which is taped on the board. Handwritten on the back of the board is "3." This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
