Description |
Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with six documents from a calendar entitled, "Ethnic Cultures of America". Each document has blue and white photographic images of groups of people celebrating their heritage. Each image has a caption in red text and each document has a caption in red. The document captions are: "Native to North America are American Indians, / Amish, Mormons, Pennsylvania Dutch, Appalachians", "From Northwestern Europe came Germans, French, / Dutch, Jews, Belgians", "From Central and Latin America came: / Cubans, Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, / El Salvadorians, Nicaraguans", "From Africa came: Black Americans", "From Central Europe came: Swiss, / Austrians, Hungarians, Czechs, Slovaks", and "From Southern Europe came: / Italians, Greeks, Spanish, / Portuguese, Serbs, Croats, Jews, / Slovenes". The documents are affixed to the board with black tape. The front of the board is covered in wood design contact paper and clear plastic. Handwritten in black ink on the back of the board is, "2 - x // 2 of 2 x"". This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
