Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with five posters entitled, "Women in Science", "Women in Art and Literature", "Women in Performing Arts", "Women in Government", and "Women in Sports". Each poster consists of black and white photographic images of three women with a biographical caption on an orange or yellow background. The women depicted are Chien-Shiung Wu, Barbara McClintock and Commodore Grace Hopper for Science, Eudora Welty, Mary Cassat and Gwendolyn Brooks for art and literature, Rita Moreno, Maria Tallchief, and Marian Anderson for the performing arts, Francis Perkins, Jeannette Rankin, and Dona Felisa Rincon De Gautier for government, and Babe Didrickson, Wilma Rudolph, and Althea Gibson for sports. The poster was produced by Hayes School Publishing Co. The board is edged in brown tape. The front of the board is covered in wood design contact paper and clear plastic which is taped at the back of the board. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
