Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with a poster entitled, "A Salute to Historic Black Abolitionists". The poster has a blue background and has color drawings of eighteen African Americans with six contextual drawings of their achievements. The drawings are of the following: Osbourne Perry Anderson, William Still, Rev. Samuel Ringgold Ward, William Brown, Nat Turner, Robert Purvis, Martin R. Delany, Frederick Douglass, Bishop Richard Allen, Rev. Alexander Crummell, Prince Hall, David Ruggles, Henry W. Bibb, John Jones, Charles Lenox Remond, Rev. Josiah Henzon, and Rev. Henry Highland Garnet. The poster was produced by Empak Enterprises. The board is edged in blue tape on three sides. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic which is taped on the board. Handwritten on the back of the board is "2." This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
