Description |
Irregularly shaped cardboard display board mounted with eight posters that consist of a black and white drawing of events in the history of America with a title in black ink above. The posters are entitled, "85. Nuclear-Powered Submarines Put Out to Sea, 1954", "86. Labor Unions Become More Powerful, 1955", "88. School Desegregation Becomes an Issue, 1957-????", "89. Russian Missiles in Cuba Nearly Cause War, 1962", "90. Racial Violence Erupts in Many Cities, 1963-1968", "91. President John F. Kennedy Is Assassinated, 1963", "92. The Vietnam War Is Long and Unpopular, 1964-1973", and "93. South Vietnamese Civilians Need and Get Help, 1964-????" The front of the board is covered in wood design contact paper and clear plastic which is taped at the back. Handwritten in black ink on the back of the board, "12." This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
