Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with a poster entitled, "1st African American Female In Space: Dr. Mae C. Jemison". The poster consists of a color drawing of Dr. Mae C. Jemison wearing her orange NASA spacesuit and holding her helmet. In the background are line drawings of other famous African American women, such as Sojourner Truth and Mary McLeod Bethune. The title is in a yellow band at the top of the poster. At the bottom of the poster is the date 1992 September 12. The poster has a pink border. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic which is taped at the back of the board. There are sections of velcro on the back of the board. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
