Description |
Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with a poster entitled, "Garrett A. Morgan, The Black Presence in Invention" and consists of a color drawing of Garrett A. Morgan, by Charles Lilly with a brief biography below. The drawing depicts Morgan as a young man and as an older man standing next to his traffic signal. The drawing also includes two views of a man wearing Morgan's smoke hood and the commemorative medal Morgan was awarded by the National Safety Council of New York. There are copies of the patent drawings for both Morgan's smoke hood and traffic signal in the background. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic which is taped at the back. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
