Description |
Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with a poster produced by Pitman Publishing Company, 1968. The poster consists of six black and white photographic images in two rows on a green background with the title, "1930's" along the top edge in white text. Each image has a brief explanatory caption below it. The top row of images consists of Chicago Congressman Oscar De Priest, Dr. Robert Weaver, and Mary McLeod Bethune with a group of young African American women. The bottom row of images consists of President Roosevelt and Dr. Carver shaking hands, a Farm Security Administrator and a Louisiana farmer in a cotton field, and a group of men holding signs picketing for building repairs to their housing. The poster is affixed to a black board which is edged in black tape. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic which is taped at the back. The board is marked on the reverse "16". This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
