Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with a poster entitled, "Famous American Women of the Past". The poster consists of a composite drawing of twelve American women on the right of the poster and brief biographies of the same women on the left in a yellow rectangle on a blue background. The women are from a diverse range of fields such as science, journalism, medicine, social activism and the arts. The women depicted are Harriet Beecher Stowe, Maria Mitchell, Susan B. Anthony, Harriet Tubman, Clara Barton, Elizabeth Blackwell, Emily Dickinson, Louisa May Alcott, Mary Cassatt, Sarah Winnemucca, Jane Addams, and Nellie Bly. The poster has a red border and the title is in yellow text. The poster was produced by Creative Teaching Press. The front of the board is also covered in clear plastic which is taped at the back. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
