Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with a printed black and white document entitled, "Black Americans in World War I". The document includes five black and white photographic images, one of Sergeant Henry Johnson in a car during the 369th Infantry's homecoming parade in New York and four images of other men who were awarded the Croix de Guerre because of their heroic military service in France. Each image has a brief caption and the central caption discusses the work of the African American military during World War I. This document was produced by DCA Educational Products, Inc. in 1969, as part of its "Compile-A-Topic, No. 8" series. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic which is taped at the back. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
