Description |
Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with two typed documents about the Howard University Hospital poster series. The first document is an acknowledgment board and the other explains the purpose of the posters. The first document reads: "A LEGACY OF EXCELLENCE : / THE MISSION OF / HOWARD UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL / THIS EXHIBIT WAS DONATED TO / THE HISTORY AND CULTURE OF MINORITIES / EXHIBITION BY: / THE PARK-VIEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL / MRS. SHIRLEY G. HAYES - WASHINGTON D.C. / PRINCIPAL JUNE 1991" The other document reads: "The Posters, / Their Meaning / This poster series chronicles / the history of a hospital and its legacy / of service to a community for 125 years...." The documents are in text black on white paper edged with black. They are mounted on individual sections of cardboard which are then mounted on another piece of cardboard. The board is edged in the corners with green, black and red tape and is covered in clear plastic on the front and wood design contact paper on the back. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
